A new and exciting professional culinary competition showcasing a fine selection of Scottish Produce with an unusual twist...

About

The TARTAN PANTRY competition is open to Chefs
living and working in Scotland, with a minimum of 2 years professional experience.

Based around a 'mystery box' concept, competitors will be asked to create recipes for a 2 course meal (starter and main, or main and dessert) featuring at least two items from the selection of Scottish produce featured on the competition website. Entry is via the FORM with an emphasis on fine dining and high-end creative cookery. Pictures are optional however we do expect to see a significant level of skill and a real understanding of the ingredients chosen in the written submission, perhaps with a nod to tradition and our proud Scottish heritage.

Our judging panel will select 8 outstanding menus for the Final cook - and then the fun begins!

Just 60 minutes before cooking commences eight Finalists will be invited to choose from mystery boxes containing a selection of authentic Scottish produce, proteins, vegetables, grains, fruits and seafood to create a further two course meal showcasing both their hero items and  their own ability to think on their feet. Creativity, adaptability and initiative are in play here and technical skill will sit alongside speed and clear thinking to surprise and delight our judges!

The Final cook will take place over a 3 hour period, resulting in 2 plates of food, 2 of each course from each Chef.
